Menopause - Getting a Good Night's Sleep Despite Hormonal Changes

Ebbe9b3a

Every day, every hour, every second, we grow older. Just as insidious as aging are the physical changes that come with it, and the effects of menopause become increasingly noticeable.

Declining estrogen and progesterone levels disrupt hormonal balance and cause sleep disturbances in 40–60% of women. Men also feel these changes.

This is often compounded by personal and professional changes that take a toll on mental well-being. The frequently mentioned hot flashes can affect women as early as the premenopausal phase, in their early to mid-forties. Sleepless nights, sweating or feeling cold, waking up and being unable to fall back asleep are just a few of the symptoms that appear particularly during perimenopause, starting around age 50. Choosing a climate-regulating duvet and breathable clothing and bedding can help alleviate these issues. The primary goal is to wick moisture away from the body. Climate-regulating duvets with a moisture absorber help absorb moisture and wick it away. This is particularly effective because we regulate 80% of the bed climate through our duvet and about 20% through the mattress. In addition, there are other effective approaches to optimizing your personal sleep environment.

It is advisable to consult a qualified sleep therapist who can assist with selecting the right products and provide important sleep tips.

The healthier your body and mind are, the better you’ll sleep.
