Lack of sleep causes inflammation—did you know that?

If you don’t get enough good sleep, your blood-brain barrier suffers.
What are the consequences? – Substances enter the brain that simply don’t belong there.

And it is precisely these substances that then trigger inflammation in the brain.
This inflammation in the brain can contribute to the following conditions:

  • Dementia
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Parkinson’s
  • ADHD... and many others.
  •

What can you do to prevent it?

Reduce your stress levels. The stress hormone norepinephrine also acts as a neurotransmitter (i.e., in nerve signal transmission). If norepinephrine levels are too high, the brain cannot properly clear itself of toxins overnight.
Many scientists believe this can lead to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, such as those listed above.
When you fall into bed relaxed in the evening, your brain can properly clean itself and eliminate toxins.

Scientists have also recognized that sleep deprivation stresses the body because it causes cortisol levels to rise. Cortisol is our fight-or-flight hormone—it signals to our body that it should fight. Certainly a relic from the time of early humans—but still actively embedded within us. These high cortisol levels lead to inflammatory reactions in the brain, which attack the blood-brain barrier.

So you see, sleep is extremely important for your brain health.
Sleep well, and you reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
If you already have health issues, good sleep can aid in recovery.

Many people want to sleep, but they can’t.
This is usually due to a nutrient deficiency, or your thoughts won’t let your brain rest.

Most people, however, simply don’t make enough time for sleep.
They’d rather spend their evenings in front of the computer, the TV, on
social media, or shopping online. This prevents deep, restful sleep.

Our message to you:
“Wake up mentally and give yourself a little more time for yourself”—so you don’t have to stay awake at night.
