Do you sweat in the summer and freeze in the winter?

To ensure a restful night’s sleep, a healthy bed climate is essential. To maintain this climate year-round, it’s important that bedding can adapt to temperature fluctuations. On tropical nights with outdoor temperatures of twenty degrees and higher, it’s understandable that we sweat. Is this necessary? And what about in winter during frosty nights below zero?

The Problem

On tropical nights, the problem is clearly evident. Due to the hot and humid outside temperature, cooling down the bedroom is rather difficult. On these nights, the demands on your bedding are enormous, as it must absorb up to 500 ml of water in a single night. On nights when temperatures drop below zero degrees, we don’t want to freeze. After all, cold feet prevent a restful sleep. That’s where our bedding should provide warmth. Especially in Switzerland, temperatures can vary by up to 10 degrees from one night to the next, which doesn’t make maintaining a good sleeping environment any easier. The duvet, in particular, has the demanding task of absorbing 80% of the body moisture transferred and therefore plays a key role in maintaining optimal moisture balance.

Tips:

  • Use two different duvets for summer and winter—after all, we don’t wear the same clothes year-round either.
  • We recommend thoroughly ventilating the bedroom before going to bed and then closing the window for the night. Especially in winter, when the outside temperature is 10 degrees or lower, a pool of cold air accumulates right up to the edge of the bed. The cool room air then comes into contact with our warm, moist skin; this cold air is toxic to our muscles and leads to tension, colds, and even muscle stiffness.
  • You can achieve the perfect bed climate with a duvet tailored to your needs that meets your warmth requirements.
  • To find the right duvet, we can measure your sleep phases and determine the climate your body creates during the night.
  • A common mistake people make is that those who sweat heavily sleep without nightwear. Nightwear helps absorb moisture.
