A Soft Pillow for Rest

A Soft Pillow

It’s not just a clear conscience that makes for a soft pillow; choosing the right pillow also ensures a healthy night’s sleep. Most people probably already own several pillows—and none of them is quite right. Why is that?

The Problem

Pillows are usually chosen based on the sleeper’s shoulder width and body build. Broad shoulders call for a large, wide pillow so that the shoulders aren’t squeezed together when sleeping on one’s side. But the pillow must also be suitable for sleeping on one’s back. If it’s too high, the chin is pressed toward the chest. Sleepers tense up and start snoring. How do you find the right pillow for yourself?

Tips:

  • Remove two to three slats from the bed’s slatted frame at shoulder height so that your shoulders sink deeper into the mattress when lying on your side.
  • Test the pillow first while lying on your back.
  • Choose a pillow that isn’t too thick.
  • Opt for a firm pillow that supports you in any sleeping position.
